Alex and Angie are students of Bilingual Administrative Assistant program at the Colombo in Barranquilla.

we get along well with our classmates, they are friendly, responsible and very smart. We have done many activities together, so we are a family. And we also share with our teachers.

About us

We have been learning english since we were 11 years old. we took an english course but we didn´t finish because we were studying acting in high school, but English classes were fun and we paid attention to them. We watched american movies three times a week and we read a book everyday. Anyway we´ve liked this language and we want to learn more about it.

we have many friends who love to speak english, think in english, write in english, ALL in english. Those friends have given to us some strategies to learn english in an easier and faster way.

The Best place to travel

We have considered traveling to New York because it's a majestic state that you can visit. There are many wonderful places, one of them is THE TIMES SQUARE. It is a major comercial intersection in the borough of manhattan. There are other places like the Statue of Liberty and the Central Park.

Native English Speaker

We spoke to a native English speaker last month. She is our friend who has lived in Miami for many years. She has been sending us some books about Modern American English information.
Our dream is to travel around the world... that would be a wonderful experience. We´ve always wanted to go to English speaking countries to speak the language all the time and to get a master´s degree there.

Our favorite activity in English

Role plays are our favorite activity because you practice english in a different way, you can be creative and invent an interesting situation.

Our virtual friends

 

we have two virtual friends who know and love english. They check their e-mails every night. when we are online, we talk to them. Most times they plug in the microphone and we hear their voices.

In the future...

We will apply our knowledge of English in all activities as required to be the best managers on the world, because it´s necessary in many fields, professions and occupations. We love English and we could write a book for American people. A lot of countries throughout the whole world have taught english, at least a basic level to increase the competitiveness of their economies. For that reason we will use all we´ve learned in order to improve our lives.

Learning English has completely changed our lives.

so far we´ve helped our cousins in their homework. when we were in level three we made a movie. It was the best because we studied very hard.

We´ve been able to talk and write letters to interesting people who could not communicate with other people. We have impressed people around us whenever we open our mouths. We have made big jumps in our career, leaving other miles behind just because they haven´t studied English. 

In the news: Crazy, fast and very dangerous ants in Barranquilla.

This news seems a classic horror movie but it`s really true that is happening in the city. 

The weather hasn`t been very well in Barranquilla, heavy rains have caused the invasion of ants and strange insects in some popular neighborhoods like "El prado", "Ciudadela", "Hipodromo".

A policeman discovered a large group of American ants yesterday.  Unfortunately, children were victims of the ants, they are seriously injured and a baby is in Intensive Care Unit at the Hospital.

People are frightened with that situation. They want to get any help.



Greetings People in Barranquilla

Visiting to Barranquilla is good way to enjoy by all things this beautiful city has, the people get use to hold hands gently or shake hands, lifting your finger is a good manner to greet between men, they usually use to say: HEY QUE TODO BIEN. In the other hand there are some words that we say here in Barranquilla such as: BAKANO, ESTAS BARRO,BAILANDO EL INDIO,and may others.

Eating traditional food

There are a lot of restaurants in Barranquilla, which have a variety of food and a good service.

You should definitely try coconut rice with roasted fish, meat balls, beef steak, rice cakes, hayacas, boiled yucca with cheese, noodles, if you visit Barranquilla. People prefer to eat Mondongo`s soup with White rice and panela`s water for lunch, it`s a popular dish there.

Also you find patties, patacón, arepas with a delicious spicy sauce, ketchup, mayonnaise, butter or just salt. Everyone has a favorite way of eating them.

In Barranquilla, People  eat too much fast food but they also do exercise to lose weight.

If you don´t have plans, you can spend your time on something fun: GO SHOPPING!

Buenavista, portal del prado, villa Country, Country plaza are nice malls where you find what you want.

In barranquilla, people spend money to look good all the time. I´ts very important because your personality is reflected in your clothes.

You also find beautiful clothes and jewelry on 72 street, There are some stores that sells fancy, varied, unusual clothes for women, men and kids.
